PLEASE NOTE: Content Editing is NOT a replacement for a copy editor! I do a completely different task. While there may be some glaring things I correct that I cannot ignore, I cannot guarantee I will have caught any or everything else. Especially considering so much re-working will shift the grammar of a manuscript.
The first step is to contact me with the scope of your project, as well as expectations.
I will then email you a quote and answers to your queries.
You can also purchase an example edit of a 10-page sample of your work. Pages are measured as follows: a Word document (or equivalent), 12pt font (Calibri typeface) and single-spaced lines with 1″ margins.
Once fees, dates, and expectations have been discussed fully, a service contract will be distributed.
New clients will be asked to sign a Master Service Agreement. This document summarizes our business relationship as a whole and is used as a base guideline for any additional services requested.
For recurring authors, you will not be required to sign an additional Master Service Agreement unless updates and corrections need to be made.
Then for the new project, a Statement of Work will also be sent over that details the exact specifications of one solitary book/project.
A new Statement of Work will need to be signed after every book/project requested.
Once everything is finalized and rates agreed upon, I will email you an invoice with an upfront payment of half the total fee.
When the deposit has been received, please send me your project, and I will begin your work. Please format your book in Word, 12pt font (Calibri typeface) and double-spaced lines with 1″ margins.
I will then look over the work and make detailed notes on grammar, syntax, plot, and character structures, as well as other details that may need smoothing out. Then I will send back to you the edits and suggestions I have made, as well as a report on any overarching concerns.
Upon finishing your work, I will send you an invoice for the completed amount. Once that has been received, I will then send you your documentation.
Late Fee Policies:
I do not release edits until payment is received. Final payment is expected within two weeks of invoicing.
After that, a late fee of five percent (5%) per month or the highest rate allowed by law, plus a monthly $25 rebilling fee will be added to each additional invoice.
Here are some examples of what my markups may look like:
